The Ideal City 2040

The Ideal City 2040 was a project by Space 10 in collaboration with Modem Works that aimed to challenge current preconceptions, present positive possibilities, and empower visitors with courage and hope for new futures. The project featured an interactive installation that shared three speculative environments - the Coastal City, the Garden City, and the Solar City. Viewers were able to glimpse these futures through one of three VR headsets, custom-designed in the shape of coin-operated binoculars. Each headset revealed five scenes accompanied by an audio narration that guided the viewer through the actions each city took to arrive at a safe, desirable, and hopeful 2040
